Several years ago I visited St. Joseph, Missouri and saw the place where
the Pony Express mail service originated. They told me that this service carried
messages and mail from St. Joseph all the way to Sacramento, California in just
10 days. These riders didn’t have paved roads to travel, they had to ride their
horses over all kinds of rough terrain and cross huge mountains to get to their
destination.
Recently I ordered some necessities* from an e-Bay seller in New Jersey.
She shipped the package the same day I placed my order. It traveled via mail
truck from the post office where she mailed it to two other post offices in New
Jersey, then out to a post office in the next county from where I live.
Finally, the tracking said it was delivered to a town I’d never heard of in New
Jersey the same day it actually arrived in my mail box—6 days after I ordered
it.
So I have some advice for the Post Office. The next time I order a package
from New Jersey, put the little box in a satchel, hop on a horse and gallop
over the bridges to Long Island. Not only will I get my parcel quicker, but you’ll
save a lot of money on gasoline.
*My human sidekick was muttering something about my definition of “necessities”
as I wrote this, but since I was concentrating on my blog, I didn’t hear
exactly what she said. I’m sure it wasn’t important.

Someone once said, "If the Post Office ever had a slow-down, who'd notice."
ReplyDeleteWell said! I'm glad you sympathize with my plight in getting my "necessities" in a timely fashion! I should be like Mrs. Bucket and call them to complain their sorting office has let me down. Love, Stretch
